Christmas Stockings

“‘Twas the night before Christmas, When all through the house not a creature was stirring not even a mouse: The stockings were hung by the chimney with care….”

I have dutifully knit stockings for the five of us. They didn’t all happen at once. Over the years as our family has grown I have added one. The kids think that the dog needs one too. It is on the to do list.

I have been using this pattern for years for socks. It is straight forward and relatively quick since you can use worsted weight wool and not super thin sock weight. For the Christmas stockings I just double everything in the pattern. Only the needle size stays the same.

The patterns just emerge when I am working and I get tired of a color.
