Happy Independence Day!
For as long as I can remember there has been a 4th of July parade that goes right down the road in front of the house I grew up in, the same one that my parents still live in. We have mostly just watched it go by. Several times we have participated in it. Once when my mom was helping organize a new playground for our elementary school, another time when we were promoting the Christmas Eve Santa visits, and once when I was a teenager and made a float with friends to promote environmentalism. Now we sit with family, friends, and neighbors and count the old cars, collect candy, and cheer on the Cycling Murray’s.
Before we head out to the side walk in front of the house we gather on the back porch to drink coffee and eat blueberry muffins. My dad has always been in charge of the baking. He has decided to out source the muffins this year. I was assigned to mini muffins for the kids. I used Jenny’s recipe found here. Hope you all have a wonderful day celebrating!
